Graduate students who are not in PhD and Master of Fine Arts programs are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan. Eligible dependents of enrolled Graduate students not in PhD and Masters of Fine Arts programs may participate in the plan on a voluntary basis but must be enrolled during the open enrollment periods listed below:

In order to add SHIP coverage based on a qualifying event, review the below eligibility document and click the "enroll" button. Enrollment must be within 31 days of the qualifying event. You may be requested to provide documentation verifying the date of the qualifying event (e.g. birth certificate, marriage license, I-94 travel history, boarding pass, letter showing a loss of coverage). Once you submit your request, the charges for the premium will be added to your student account. Coverage will be effective beginning the first day following your loss of coverage. Installment plans are not available for dependents who are added via qualifying event outside of the open enrollment period.

Am I Eligible for a Qualifying Event?

Domestic Undergraduate, Professional, and Graduate students (excluding GDOCL and GMFA) can choose to voluntarily enroll in dental coverage through MetLife. Please click here for open enrollment time frames and details of the plan. International and Graduate students in GDOCL and GMFA programs have dental coverage included with their enrollment in SHIP.
