Continuation of Coverage is offered to students and covered dependents who were enrolled in the Vanderbilt Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) during Spring 2023 and who will no longer be a student in Fall 2024. Application for Continuation of Coverage must be made and premium paid directly to Academic HealthPlans no later than September 12, 2024.
This Continuation option allows you to enroll for three additional months under the 24/25 SHIP plan subject to any plan changes as well as new annual deductible/out of pocket terms. In addition, students no longer enrolled at Vanderbilt do not have access to Vanderbilt’s Student Health Center and referrals for access to outside care are not required.
Students will need to set up an account to enroll in Continuation Coverage. Students must NOT use 3 or more consecutive characters from their VUNet ID, first name, middle name or last name for either the user name or password. Students will be required to provide their VUNet ID as their Student ID when setting up their account. This is needed in order to confirm a student’s eligibility to enroll for this coverage. All International Students including students in the process of gaining a green card are automatically enrolled in SHIP and the premium for coverage is added to their tuition billing unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished. All other degree and non-degree seeking students (excluding DUS and Consortium students) enrolled in 4+ credit hours, a 0-credit research/dissertation course, or any other course that is considered to equate to full-time enrollment are automatically enrolled in SHIP and the premium for coverage is added to their tuition billing unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.
