Continuation of Coverage is offered to students and covered dependents who were enrolled in the Vanderbilt Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) during Spring/Summer 2022 and who will no longer be a student in Fall 2022. Application for Continuation of Coverage must be made and premium paid directly to Academic HealthPlans no later than September 11, 2022.
This Continuation option allows you to enroll for three additional months under the 22/23 SHIP plan subject to any plan changes as well as new annual deductible/out of pocket terms. In addition, students no longer enrolled at Vanderbilt do not have access to Vanderbilt’s Student Health Center and referrals for access to outside care are no longer required.
Students will need to set up an account to enroll in Continuation Coverage. Students must NOT use 3 or more consecutive characters from their VUNet ID, first name, middle name or last name for either the user name or password. Students will be required to provide their VUNet ID as their Student ID when setting up their account. This is needed in order to confirm a student’s eligibility to enroll for this coverage. Please click the link below to start Continuation Coverage enrollment.
In order to add SHIP coverage based on a qualifying event, review the below eligibility document and click the "enroll" button. Enrollment must be within 31 days of the qualifying event. You may be requested to provide documentation verifying the date of the qualifying event (e.g. birth certificate, marriage license, I-94 travel history, boarding pass, letter showing a loss of coverage). Once you submit your request, the charges for the premium will be added to your student account. Coverage will be effective beginning the first day following your loss of coverage. Installment plans are not available for dependents who are added via qualifying event outside of the open enrollment period.
