Enroll/Cost

Am I Eligible for the Student Health Insurance Plan?

All degree and non-degree seeking students (excluding DUS and Consortium students) enrolled in 4+ credit hours, a 0-credit research/dissertation course, or any other course that is considered to equate to full-time enrollment are automatically enrolled in SHIP.

Dependent Only Online Enrollment

Domestic Undergraduate Students

All Domestic Undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan. Eligible dependents of enrolled Domestic Undergraduate students may participate in the plan on a voluntary basis but must be enrolled during the open enrollment periods listed below:

Spring (New Students): 12/01/2021 - 02/01/2022

Summer (New Students): 04/19/2022 - 07/22/2022

International, Graduate & Professional Students

All International, Graduate and Professional students are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan. Eligible dependents of enrolled International, Graduate and Professional students may participate in the plan on a voluntary basis but must be enrolled during the open enrollment periods listed below:

Spring (New Students): 12/01/2021 - 02/01/2022

Summer (New Students): 04/19/2022 - 07/22/2022

All Other Enrollment

Students with a Qualifying Life Event

In order to add SHIP coverage based on a qualifying event, review the below eligibility document and click the “enroll” button. Enrollment must be within 31 days of the qualifying event. You may be requested to provide documentation verifying the date of the qualifying event (e.g. birth certificate, marriage license, I-94 travel history, boarding pass, letter showing a loss of coverage). Once you submit your request, the charges for the premium will be added to your student account. Coverage will be effective beginning the first day following your loss of coverage.

Dental & Vision

All Vanderbilt University students and their dependents are eligible to voluntarily enroll in dental and vision coverage. These services are not administered by Academic HealthPlans.
Note: Dental and vision coverage is included in the medical plan for dependents under age 19.
